Electric bicycle uses batteries to store electricity. The battery must be charged several hours so that the electric motor can function at maximum. The types of batteries that are used are lead-acid, NiCd, Nimh and Li-ion. On some special designed models, electric bicycle uses a solar panels to collect energy.
Electric bicycle is able to cover distance as far as 70 km or 7 km on the uphill road. This makes the operational cost of electric bicycle is very cheap considering the energy needed to run at full capacity is nothing more than 250 W or 450 W.
For traveling in the short distance, for example, to the campus or work, electric bicycle is suitable to use as this vehicle is running at very low cost so that students can save money for other purposes. It is a common thing to see electric bicycle used in the campus area.
When using electric bicycle, remember to adding more security measure as bicycle is often stolen. What you need is an additional device such as u-shaped lock to ensure the electric bicycle will remain in the last place you leave it.
